Abia 2023: Why youths are druming support for Prof. Uche Eleazer Ikonne
A politician is said to be always concerned about the next election while a leader places paramount importance on the welfare of the people. Thank God Prof. Ikonne is a respected Leader with proven track records.
Hence, when a society abandons the youths, it has signed a pact with under-development.
That’s the situation in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country and biggest democracy.
Because of his vocation as a teacher who also reached the pinnacle of his career, Prof. Uche Ikonne, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been working with the youths all his life and is better equipped to know the problems of youths.
He has been in the business of moulding the characters of the youths and influencing them positively through academics both in character and learning.
Prof. Ikonne had in the past sponsored over 100 youths made of boys and girls to INNOSONS AQUISITION ACADEMY, Nnewi, Anambra state and KIARA DE LUKE TRAINING CENTER, Umuobiakwa, Obingwa in Abia state to be trained in skills ranging from Auto electrical electronics, Auto Air-conditioner, Auto welding and fabrication, Auto painting and Spraying and Auto mechanic amongst others
This skills acquisition programme was born out of Prof. Ikonne’s conviction that acquiring skills remains the panacea to the rising unemployment amongst the youth. Today, those youths are self – employed and making a good living for themselves.
It’s therefore not surprising when the entire youths of Isiala Ngwa North under the umbrella of Isiala Ngwa North Youth Congress, led by Hon. Chuks Njoku recently converged at Umuomaiukwu Nsulu to declare their support for youth friendly Prof. Uche Eleazer Ikonne.
Prof. Ikonne is not the only candidate from the area seeking to succeed the incumbent Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu but, according to them, the youths decided to throw their weight behind the gubernatorial
