Ahead of the 2023 Senate election, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP candidate for Abia South senatorial district and Governor of the State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has maintained that his achievements in office would guarantee his victory in the election.

The governor who would be representing Aba South, Obingwa, Ukwa West, Aba South, Ugwunagbo and Ukwa East council areas, when duly elected as a senator by the Abia South electorate, who spoke during an interview at a local radio station in Umuahia, said he stands tall above candidates of other political parties as he built roads, and improved education, health care and SMEs across the six council areas of the zone.

On the health status of Prof. Uche Ikonne, the Governorship candidate of the party, Gov. Ikpeazu said he (Prof. Ikonne) is at the convalescence stage but assured that he would soon bounce back and rejoin the ongoing campaign in the state.

Emphatically, he said that the medical vacation of Prof. Ikonne is not in any way affecting the ongoing PDP campaigns. According to him, “PDP is very powerful party. There’s no party that is this kind of strong as PDP. No party can call a ward meeting in all the one hundred and eighty four wards Abia State.”

He used the opportunity to inform that Abia PDP is commencing another round of ward rallies to inform Abians more about the need to vote massively for the PDP, informing that “we are going back to our ward campaigns again, we are going back to speak to our people again”

The Governor said Prof. Ikonne was hail and hearty and he addressed the mammoth crowd during the flag off of the PDP State campaign and said no other Governorship candidate in the State has been able to address such a mammoth crowd”

”When the G5 Governors came to Flag off our campaign, Professor Ikonne was there. He was there and very fit. He was in the Gala Nite that was held in honour of the G5 Governors in my house till 2am”.

He maintained that, Prof. Ikonne equally gave a speech on the rally day, saying that no other Governorship candidate in the state has mounted a podium.

Gov. Ikpeazu insisted that Abia South needs a senator who will use his wealth of experience and contacts to attract federal presence to the zone, adding, “If you move around the six LGAs of Abia South today, there is no federal presence. Abia South needs a man with experience, maturity and contacts to change the tide”.
